Piers. Push piers are driven down using the weight of the structure. Helical piers are screwed into the ground and can be installed where less structure weight is available. Today's Homeowner's 2026 pier pricing gives steel push piers at $1,500 to $2,500 each and helical piers at $2,500 to $3,500 each, and notes most homes need seven to ten piers. HomeCostLab's ranges are similar and notes six to twelve piers as typical. Either way, the count is the number that determines your bill.

Wall reinforcement. Carbon fiber strips are bonded to the inside of a wall; wall anchors tie the wall back to soil or a plate outside. These are the cheapest items on the list, at $300 to $700 and $500 to $1,000 per unit respectively per HomeCostLab, and they address a different problem than piers do.

Injection. Mudjacking pumps a slurry under a sunken slab. Polyurethane foam injection does the same job with expanding polymer. HomeCostLab prices these at $500 to $1,500 and $1,000 to $3,000 respectively.

One practical note: the equipment is not what you are buying. You are buying a correct decision about which equipment applies and how much of it you need. That decision is best made by someone who does not sell any of it.

How to choose

The count matters more than the brand

Whether you need six piers or fourteen swings your bill by tens of thousands. Brand of pier rarely does.

Ask about depth and refusal criteria

How deep will piers go, and what determines when a pier is done? Get it in the contract so "deeper than expected" is not an open-ended surcharge.

Reinforcement is not the same as lifting

Carbon fiber and anchors hold a wall. They do not correct settlement. Do not let one be sold as the other.

Injection does not fix causes

Raising a slab does not stop whatever caused the void underneath it.
