This site asks contractors to prove who they are before we will introduce them to you. It would be difficult to justify holding them to that standard and staying anonymous ourselves - so here is everyone who writes the guides, checks the numbers, and runs the verification that stands between a homeowner and a bad hire.
HomeMatchup is a team of 16 across editorial, expert review, operations, search, design and engineering. 6 of us write the guides, 5 review other people's work before it publishes, and every cost figure clears a separate check against the dataset it came from. Nobody on this list is paid by a contractor, and no contractor can buy a place in a match or a mention in a guide.

Sarah checks every figure against its source and its date. Michael reads for the claims that are technically true and practically wrong.

The review date goes on the page so you can judge whether it is stale, and Emily flags it for refresh before you find it that way.

That is worth stating plainly because this site previously published an expert review panel that was illustrative rather than real, and we retracted it - you can read that correction on our editorial standards page. This roster is the replacement, and it is held to the standard we ask of contractors: we only publish what we can stand behind.
Because we will not print a credential you cannot check. Where a team member holds a verifiable public credential, it will appear on their profile with a way to look it up - exactly as we require of every contractor in the network. Until then the profiles describe the work each person is accountable for, which you can judge by reading it.

No, and the structure is deliberate. Contractors cannot pay for placement in a match or for a mention in a guide, and the editorial team does not report to the commercial team. Pages that advise a homeowner to repair rather than replace, or to wait, are a normal output - they cost us money in the short run and are the entire product in the long run.
