Before buying. Total delivered-and-running price in writing, itemized. Wet test of the exact model. The full warranty PDF, exclusions read. Name and location of the nearest authorized service technician. Electrician's assessment of your panel and run distance. Confirmation of whether a crane is needed.

Before delivery. Pad poured, cured, and level. Electrical run installed by a licensed electrician, permitted, and inspected. Delivery path measured, including gate widths and overhead clearance. Clearance left on every service panel per the manufacturer's spec. Cover lifter, steps, and starter chemicals on hand.

Safety. A lockable cover fitted and used. Everyone in the household knows where the disconnect is. Clear household rules: children only with an adult, nobody soaks alone after drinking, and anyone feeling lightheaded gets out. Ask your local building department what barrier or cover requirement applies to you, since these are jurisdiction-specific.

Ongoing. Test and adjust water on your manual's schedule. Rinse filters regularly and replace on schedule. Inspect the cover for waterlogging and sagging. Drain and refill per the manufacturer. Note your normal monthly power cost so an increase is visible. Keep records — they matter for warranty claims.

How to choose

Get the all-in price itemized before you sign: Tub, delivery, crane, pad, electrical, cover, steps, startup chemicals. Dealers quote the tub; you pay for all of it.
Have the electrical done and inspected before delivery day: A tub sitting unusable while you wait for an electrician is a very common and entirely avoidable delay.
Leave service clearance on every panel: Decking or planting tight to the cabinet makes future repairs slower and more expensive. Follow the manufacturer's clearance spec.
Fit and use a lockable cover from day one: It is your primary safeguard against unsupervised access and it also protects your heating cost.
Record your baseline monthly running cost: Note it in the first stable month. Without a baseline you cannot spot a failing cover or filter in your bill.
