How we screen pros.
A badge that only says “verified” is decoration - you cannot check it and it never expires. So here is the whole method: the six things we look at, the authority we look at them with, and the date we last looked.
Why screening matters
The scariest part of a roof is not the price - it is trusting a stranger on your home. So we do the hard part first. Every pro passes The HomeMatchup Shield, our 6-point trust check, before they ever reach you.
The 6 checks
- License - we verify an active license with the state board.
- Insurance - proof of liability and workers' comp, so you never pay for an accident.
- Written warranty - a real workmanship warranty you can hold them to.
- Real reviews - from finished local jobs, plus a BBB check - not bought five-star posts.
- Background & standing - business history, complaints, and legal standing.
- Track record - years in business, jobs done, and how fast they respond.
See the full method on The HomeMatchup Shield page.
We re-check every year
A pro who passed last year can slip. So we re-verify license, insurance, and reviews every year. If a pro stops meeting the bar, they come off the platform.
What this means for you
You get matched only with pros who cleared all six checks. No storm-chasers, no expired licenses, no vanishing crews. Get matched free →

The job will still be there next month.
It will just cost more, and you will be choosing in a hurry - which is how most people end up with the contractor they regret. Getting matched takes about a minute and costs nothing.
