Understand what a national average hides here. A single number blends $2,000 straight-rail installs with $20,000 curved and platform installs. That is why the two most-cited sources disagree by $2,000 on the average while broadly agreeing on the type-by-type ranges. The type-by-type ranges are the more useful data.

Brand-level pricing is published in a few places. Fixr lists AmeriGlide and Harmar at $2,000-$5,000, Easy Climber at $2,000-$6,000, Acorn and Handicare at $2,500-$5,500, Bruno and Stannah at $3,000-$6,000, and Savaria at $8,000-$9,000. Treat these as indicative bands rather than quotes - configuration and rail length move them.

Check the date on any figure. Both major sources we cite here carry publication dates - Fixr updated January 31, 2025 and Bob Vila from August 2023. Equipment pricing moves, and a three-year-old number should be treated as a floor rather than a current price.

The most decision-relevant data is not national at all. It is three local quotes on the same specification for your staircase. Use benchmarks to know when one of those three is an outlier, then decide on the local numbers.

Treat brand bands as indicative

Configuration, rail length and accessories move brand pricing substantially. The band tells you the neighborhood, not the address.

Weight local quotes over national data

Three in-home quotes on the same specification beat any published benchmark for making the actual decision.
