Full services directory How it worksFor prosAbout Get matched Call (866) 582-8523Cabinet coverage comes in two separate pieces: the manufacturer's warranty on the product and the installer's warranty on the workmanship. Most complaints — doors out of alignment, gaps at walls, cabinets not level — are installation, so the installer's labor coverage matters as much as any lifetime claim on the box.
We will not summarize any manufacturer's warranty terms here. They differ by brand, they change, and the value is entirely in the exclusions. Ask for the actual written document before you sign and read it yourself.
The questions to ask of any cabinet warranty: Is it separate for the structure, the finish and the hardware, and for how long each? Does it cover labor to remove and reinstall, or only the part? Is it transferable to a buyer, and on what conditions? What voids it — humidity, an unvented bathroom, harsh cleaners, third-party modification? Is it backed by the manufacturer or only by the dealer who sold it?
Finish warranties in particular usually exclude normal wood movement. Hairline cracks at painted door joints on solid-wood doors are typically treated as characteristics of the material rather than defects. If that would bother you, choose an MDF center panel or a stained finish rather than relying on a claim later.
The objective quality signal. Rather than comparing warranty language across brands, ask whether the line carries ANSI/KCMA A161.1 certification. That means the cabinets passed a published test battery — 25,000 door cycles at a full 90-degree swing, wall cabinets loaded to 600 pounds, shelves at 15 pounds per square foot for seven days, 25,000 drawer cycles, plus finish tests for heat, cold, spills and stains. It is a measured standard, not a promise.
