Can you paint vinyl siding?

Sometimes with specialty systems and colour limits that control heat gain. It is not the same as painting wood. If vinyl is badly degraded, faded into chalk that will not hold coating, or you want a dark colour the system forbids, replacement is usually smarter than coating.

Paint or replace aging wood siding?

If boards are sound, flashings work and you will maintain coatings, paint can win. If rot is widespread or the barrier behind is suspect, replacement prevents paying twice — once for film and again for tear-off when the wall fails. Probe soft wood near grade before you decide.

Does fiber cement need paint?
