  • It is a small or short-lived tree. The hardware and the inspections can outrun the value of the tree. On a modest ornamental, replacement is often the rational answer.

  • What is the re-inspection interval, and will you write it on the invoice? Getting the interval documented is how you, or the next owner, remember that the tree has hardware in it at all.
  • Does this change how the tree should be pruned from now on? It usually does. Weight distribution matters more once a union is being supported, and future crews need to know the hardware is there.
