  5. Rough-in boxes and circuits while walls are open

    New sconces need boxes at the right height and spacing for the mirror width. Shared baths may need more circuits if loads grow. Coordinate with the exhaust fan so the ceiling is not a fight between a fan body and a light junction. GFCI protection rules for bathrooms are part of the electrical scope.

    Watch for: Surface raceways and wireless stick-on lights used as a permanent answer to a missing box. Fine as temporary; poor as a remodel.

  6. Install, seal penetrations, and aim

    Use rated enclosures, gasketed trims where required, and sealant at penetrations so moist air is not driven into the ceiling cavity. Aim adjustable heads away from mirror glare. In showers, follow wet-location listing and any glass clearance needs.

    Watch for: Recessed lights without appropriate trims leaking steam into the attic like tiny chimneys.

    View faces in the mirror, check shower visibility, confirm dimmers do not buzz, and run a hot shower to see whether lens fog or fan-light combos behave. Adjust before final paint touch-up if possible.

    Watch for: Acceptance testing only in daytime with dry mirrors. Bathrooms are used at 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
