Full services directory How it worksFor prosAbout Get matched Call (866) 582-8523Every gutter warranty is really two warranties: the manufacturer's on the material and the installer's on the workmanship. Most real-world gutter failures are workmanship — pitch, fastening, sealing — so the installer's labor coverage and how long that company has existed matter more than a headline lifetime claim on the material.
We will not tell you what any specific brand's warranty says. Terms change, they vary between dealers, and the exclusions are where the value is decided. Ask for the actual document before you sign and read it yourself.
Questions worth asking of any warranty: Does it cover material only, or labor too? For how long on each? Is it transferable when you sell, and is there a fee or a filing deadline? What specifically voids it — third-party cleaning, ladder contact, a new roof, pressure washing? Is it backed by the manufacturer or only by the local dealer? A dealer-backed lifetime warranty is worth exactly as long as the dealer stays in business.
The bigger warranty risk is your roof. RoofSmart notes that gutter guard installation can put shingle manufacturer coverage at risk when the method damages the shingles — screwing directly through them, forcing panels underneath and cupping them, blocking eave ventilation, or causing water to back up under the roof edge. Manufacturer warranties cover shingle defects, not third-party damage.
So before any guard goes on, ask the installer in writing how it attaches, and check that method against your own roofing manufacturer's published installation guidance or their technical support line. That is a five-minute call that can protect a roof warranty worth far more than the guards.
