Jonathan Hayes

Founder & CEO
15+ years in the field

HomeMatchup team member.

Jonathan founded HomeMatchup on a single unfashionable idea: that a homeowner should be able to check the claim rather than believe it. Fifteen years in home services and lead generation taught him that the industry's core problem is not a shortage of contractors - there are thousands - but that every one of them sounds equally certain, and the work gets covered up the day after it is finished.

He is responsible for the two rules the business runs on and loses money to. A contractor cannot buy their way into a match, and a homeowner's details go to their matched pros and never onto a list. He is also the reason this site says plainly that HomeMatchup does not yet verify licences or insurance, rather than implying a check the company has not built.

He sets editorial independence policy, which in practice means the commercial side of the business has no say over what a cost page says a job should cost.

What this profile does not claim

Jonathan is a real member of the HomeMatchup team and the role and experience above are accurate. You will notice what is missing: no licence numbers, no certifications, no former employers, no awards.

That is deliberate. We ask every contractor in our network to prove their credentials at the source before we will introduce them to you, and it would be indefensible to decorate our own profiles with claims you have no way to check. Where a team member holds a verifiable public credential, it will appear here with a way to look it up - and not before. Read the editorial standards, including the correction we published when this site failed that test.

Questions

Yes - Jonathan Hayes works at HomeMatchup as a Founder & CEO. We state that explicitly because this site once published an expert panel that was illustrative rather than real, and retracted it. Every profile on this site now describes a real member of the team, and claims nothing about them that we cannot stand behind.
HomeMatchup team member. In practice that means sets what we will and will not do to make a match - including the revenue we turn down.
No. No contractor can pay for placement in a match, a mention in a guide, or a change to what a page says. The editorial team does not report to the commercial team, and guides that advise a homeowner to repair rather than replace - or to wait - are a normal output of that separation.
