What is garage door lubrication?

Garage door lubrication is the controlled application of a garage-door-appropriate lubricant to hinges, roller bearings, springs and selected opener components - not a general greasing of everything metal. Done right, lubrication is cheap noise control and friction reduction; done wrong, it is a mess that hides a balance problem. If the door is heavy by hand, no spray fixes the physics - balance and repair come first, and “just lube it” can be a decoy that delays the real work.
