Full services directory How it worksFor prosAbout Get matched Call (866) 582-8523A hot tub warranty is usually several separate warranties in one document — shell structure, shell surface, plumbing, equipment and components, and cabinet — each with its own term. The question that matters most is whether labor and trip charges are covered, because on a hot tub the labor is often the expensive part. Read the actual document for your specific model before you buy.
We will not quote any brand's warranty terms, because they differ by model and change over time. Ask for the warranty document as a PDF for the exact model you are considering, and read it before you sign anything. If a dealer cannot produce it, that is the answer to your question about the dealer.
Look for five things. Separate terms: shell structure, shell surface, plumbing, components, and cabinet are usually covered for different lengths of time — a long headline number usually refers to only one of them. Labor and trip charges: a part covered for years but labor covered for months is common, and labor is where the cost sits. Who performs warranty service: the dealer, a third party, or nobody within a hundred miles. Transferability: whether coverage survives if you sell the tub or the house. Exclusions: the section that actually decides claims.
The most common exclusions to check for are damage from improper water chemistry, damage from freezing, damage from improper electrical supply, and service performed by an unauthorized technician. All four are within your control, and all four are ordinary ways owners lose coverage. Keeping records of water testing and of your permitted, inspected electrical install is genuinely useful if a claim is ever disputed.
Finally, a warranty is only as durable as the company behind it. A long warranty from a dealer or manufacturer that may not exist in five years is worth less than a shorter one from a business with a service department you can drive to.
