The three questions that matter: does it cover labor as well as parts, does it cover the call-out charge, and does it survive if the dealer goes out of business. A "lifetime" warranty on a rail is worth far less than two years of parts, labor and call-outs, because the rail is not what fails.

Check what voids it. Servicing by a third party, self-installation, use above the rated weight capacity, and outdoor use of an indoor-rated lift are common exclusions. If you plan to use an independent servicer, confirm in writing that it will not void coverage.

Extended warranties and service contracts are worth pricing against the annual service cost of $100-$200. Sometimes a contract that bundles the annual service with parts, labor and priority response is good value. Sometimes it is the same service you would buy anyway with a margin added. Ask for both prices separately and compare.

How to choose

Ask whether labor and call-out are covered: Parts-only warranties sound generous and cover the cheapest part of a repair. This is the question that separates good coverage from marketing.
Get the document before the deposit: Not a summary, not a verbal description. The actual warranty terms for the actual model.
Check what voids coverage: Third-party servicing, exceeding the weight rating and outdoor use of an indoor model are common exclusions worth knowing in advance.
Judge the dealer, not the headline length: A warranty is a promise from a business. A ten-year promise from a two-year-old company is worth less than a two-year promise from a long-established local dealer.
Price the service contract separately: Compare it against the $100-$200 annual service plus expected repair costs. Sometimes it is good value, sometimes it is repackaged.
