  3. Route with future access and heat in mind

    Raceway through garages, attics and finished spaces should respect fill, support, protection from damage and practical pull lengths. Indoor garage walls and outdoor trenching are different construction problems.

    Watch for: NM cable where the environment wants conduit, or conduit routes that make any future change a demolition project without necessity.

  4. Install breaker, conductors, disconnect as required

    The overcurrent device must be correct for the conductors and the EVSE instructions. Some installs need a local disconnect in sight of the equipment — local rules and the unit manual drive this.

    Watch for: Using a breaker brand not listed for your panel. Physical fit is not electrical listing.

  5. Terminate, label, permit inspection

    Torque terminations, label the circuit clearly at the panel, and complete inspection. Commissioning the EVSE current limit to match the circuit is part of making the branch usable.

    Watch for: An energised circuit with no label and an EVSE left on a factory max above the breaker rating.
