Insulation warranties

We do not publish specific brand warranty terms here, because they vary by product line, change over time, and frequently depend on installation by a certified contractor. Ask for the actual warranty document for the exact product being installed in your house, before the work starts. If the contractor cannot produce it, that is a meaningful answer.

Read the workmanship warranty for three things: how long it runs, what triggers it, and whether it survives if the company is sold or closes. A workmanship warranty is only as good as the business behind it, which is why a long-established local contractor's five-year promise can be worth more than a new company's lifetime one.

Common exclusions worth checking: damage from moisture or roof leaks, damage from rodents, settling within a stated allowance, and anything caused by other trades disturbing the insulation afterward. That last one is why you should photograph the finished job - it establishes what was installed before an electrician or roofer went up there.

For spray foam specifically, keep the manufacturer name, product line, and any lot or batch documentation from the day of the application. If a curing or odor problem develops, that paperwork is what allows a manufacturer to investigate. Without it, you are left arguing with a contractor who may simply stop returning calls.

Photograph the completed work

Dated photos and depth measurements are your evidence of what was installed if a claim ever arises.
