- Which incentive programme does this product qualify for, and at what cap? Qualification usually depends on meeting a stated efficiency tier chosen at purchase. Ask for the programme name and the cap in writing, then verify it independently before it changes what you buy.
- What saving are you estimating, in dollars per year, and from what baseline? A dollar figure can be checked against your bills; a percentage cannot. Ask what they assumed you have now - a number derived from replacing single-pane does not apply to a house with double glazing.
- Have you looked at my attic and my air sealing? An honest answer here tells you a lot. A contractor who says the windows will help but the attic would help more has just cost themselves margin to give you good advice.
- Is the efficiency of the installation itself covered by anything? A high-performing window air-sealed badly into the opening underperforms a modest one fitted well. Efficiency claims attach to the product; the results attach to the installation, and only one of those has a warranty.
